ARE YOU READY FOR A NEW NAKED EYES SONG?:
It sounds like Pete Byrne has almost completed the new Naked Eyes cd titled "Piccadilly". He has a new song called "Ready" that a sample of is available to listen to here.
Blackroom have some new songs available to listen to on their Soundcloud page called "Control" and "Ecstasy". They sound okay but don't excite me like the material they did as Lorraine. They also seem to be playing live a bit more frequently these days, pity it is unlikely they will play any North American shows. .
Penguin Prison (New Yorker Chris Glover) has been working on his debut album for a while and it will get released through the Neon Gold label later this year. He first caught my attention with his amazing (this is better than the original) remix of Erik Hassle's song 'Hurtful'. He's issued a bunch of songs but the new release "The Worse It Gets" is pure pop genius. It is like a combination of Naked Eyes and Zoot Woman, the best song I've heard in a while.
You can download the song at Asian Dan's blog, definitely worth having (not so keen on the ELOF remix, hopefully Starsmith will do a remix, or Pete Byrne from Naked Eyes should have a go). If this is the direction he moves in I will be first in line to pick up a copy of his debut cd. Hopefully Chris will see the power of Twitter and actually start posting some Tweets on what he is up to. He has a gig in New York City on May 8th, tempted to miss the 2nd a-ha concert I have a ticket to see and check out his live set. .
Some activity with Naked Eyes as fans eagerly await the release of their new cd "Piccadilly". There are some tour dates for later this summer and you can listen to the title track on YouTube below the tour dates.
June 13, 09 - St Louis, MO - Saint Louis Family Arena August 6, 09 - Agoura, CA - Canyon Club August 7, 09 - San Juan Capistrano, CA - Coachhouse August 8, 09 - Redondo Beach, CA - Brixton Club
Tahiti 80 are back with a new album "Activity Center" and you can view the music video for the first single "All Around" on their MySpace site. Click here to download one of the stronger tracks from the album called "Unpredictable".
A new Naked Eyes recording "Movies I Dream" is now up on their MySpace site, a three track EP that includes the song is for sale at the band's live shows. The song will also be included on Pete's forthcoming electronic album "Piccadilly" due out in Spring 2009.
Alison Moyet is about to start a North American solo tour, her first in 14 years. Below are the tour dates, I'm tempted to travel down to Seattle as I saw her 14 years ago at The Phoenix in Toronto and she was great.

NEW DIDO TRACK & ALBUM NEWS & IMOGEN HEAP DELAYS ALBUM:
Dido is releasing her new album "Safe Trip Home" on November 3rd (the 4th in North America), and you can download a new ballad titled 'Look No Further" from the album by clicking here (until September 7th). I really liked Dido's first cd "No Angel", I hope she can recapture that success with the new album. A single, "Don't Believe in Love" will also be released ahead of the album. Some info about the new album: Recorded in Los Angeles and London, Safe Trip Home is co-produced by: Jon Brion (Fiona Apple, Kayne West, Rufus Wainwright, The Eels) Ark, the new production company of Rollo Armstrong (Faithless) and Dido. The record also features a song co-written with Brian Eno.
Imogen Heap has decided to not rush finishing up the recording of her new cd and has revealed in her latest vblog from the English countryside and her home that she now hopes to deliver the final product to be mastered on December 8th the day before her birthday (the same thing she did for "Speak For Yourself"). She says she may not even stick to that date, so I'm guessing that means we won't see the album being released until early 2009 now.
You can see Pete Byrne from Naked Eyes perform an acoustic version of their hit "Promises Promises" on a Salt Lake City TV station morning show here (you would think the host could get his name right).
And get well wishes to Annie Lennox who is back at home in the U.K. recuperating from spinal surgery after she was injured last week in Mexico while there for the AIDS conference. The 'best of' album scheduled for Sept. 16th has been pushed back to early next year to allow her to recover and promote the release. .
Naked Eyes are about to start the Regeneration Tour across the U.S. with ABC, The Human League and A Flock Of Seagulls among the bands. Pete will be selling a new three song EP on the tour called "Movies I Dream" - track listing is: Movies I Dream, (What) In The Name Of Love 2008 and Voices In My Head 2008. 'Movies I Dream' is a song written by Rob Fisher and Pete Byrne but never recorded until now, can't wait to hear it. The new electronic Naked Eyes cd titled 'Piccadilly' is now scheduled for a Spring 2009 release.
Tahiti 80 have a new album titled "Activity Centre" due out on September 22nd, 2008. Check out their MySpace site to hear their new single called "All Around". Click here to download the Yuksek Remix of the single.
