MERRY CHRISTMAS AND A FEW BITS AND PIECES:

I wanted to wish any readers out there all the best of the Holiday Season, and I hope that 2009 is a great year for you.

I'm a few years late on this one but as I sorted through boxes of my cds I came across one from 2004 by Canadian songwriter Gordie Sampson titled "Sunburn". I had recently heard the track "You (Or Somebody Like You)" on the radio and cracked the shrinkwrap and took a listen to the whole album. It is fantastic, I wish I had been listening to it these last few years, I guess David Gray is a close comparison both vocally and musically. I knew Gordie was in Nashville writing hits for others artists but I highly recommend this cd (“Just a Dream” by Carrie Underwood recently became Gordie's 2nd #1 hit with Underwood - the first being the smash hit "Jesus Take The Wheel" - a song Gordie received a Grammy for in 2007). Gordie co-writes with David Mead and Teitur on the album, and has recently released a new cd titled "For The Few And Far Between".

Check out the song "Which Song" by Max Tundra here, shades of Scritti Politti in the mix.

Canadian band "The Midway State" is starting to get airplay for their song "Never Again" from their debut album "Holes", worth taking a listen to for fans of bands like Snow Patrol and Coldplay.
